Not to be confused with a Dental Dam (PS– saran wrap?? really?), these are cakes with teeth by the talented Scott Hove. You may remember his work , ‘Cakeland’, which you can read about here. Hove’s delicious creations may look like that top bitch alien in Alien, but they are nothing but layers of sweet icing and yummy-liscious cakes that are part of the ‘Your Deadly Desserts’ show at Modern Eden in San Francisco. Seriously, I’m okay with the teeth but the tongue is what truly scares the hell out of me. I think it’s because it reminds me of a dog that slobbers and yes, I have story for that.
Once upon a time when I was about 9 or 10 eating a dinner at a family friend’s apartment for the first time (It was a weird apartment to begin with with no doors in the entire place, so they couldn’t put away the dog in a separate room away from us cat lovers. ), I was being hounded by this really fat and wide Bulldog. I’m not really fond of dogs (Mr. Marmar just gave me a smile- (do cats smile?)) and this one canine decided to sit right near my feet under the table during dinner. I was eating and all of a sudden I felt this viscous slobber run down my legs and feet. of course, I was wearing sandals so the slobber continued between my toes causing me to gag on my dinner and vomit. There it is. The root of my tongue phobia.
