Designer Virgine Viard unveiled her first collection designed without Karl Lagerfeld for fashion giant Chanel. Viard has worked for two decades under the direction of Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, so this is a huge undertaking for Viard following the passing of Lagerfeld earlier this year. Honestly, the collection for me was definitely did not have any ‘razzle dazzle’. It was, in fact, slightly ho hum and a little too safe. Maybe the direction she is taking Chanel is back to its conservative roots? In any case, Chanel deserves a more daring approach of walking the fine line of classic French and an unexpected streak of avant guard to keep it fresh and updated for today’s audience. All eyes will be on Viard ,for sure…
