My last trip to NYC was a mix of business and pleasure rolled into two days, so I had to pack in as much as I could. My work as a journalist took me to The Crosby Hotel in Soho, which I have to say, was a very quaint English cottage setting mixed with an eclectic art vibe. Loved it! I made my way through the cobblestoned streets of Soho and found my way via subway to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where I saw some very impressive street art and took in the sights and smells of the food festival, Smorgasburg. Then, a fast ferry whisked me away on the East River down to DUMBO, where I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge with hundreds of others during a lovely Saturday sunset. The Brooklyn Bridge dumped me off at Wall Street, which I haphazardly decided to explore that whale bone- looking thing across the 9/11 memorial… they call this The Oculus– a $4 billion dollar train station/extensive mall. It was spectacular! There is an Eataly and Lady M cake boutique, which is an asset for people not wanting to make their way uptown for those yummy delights. It was almost nightfall, so I made my way back to my hotel in Soho, where I stumbled upon 3 gems…. Eden Fine Art Gallery , Oddfellows Ice Cream , OWMXN (Original Work by Meek X Nep) at Broadway Market Co. The Eden Gallery had some unique artwork that I fell in love with…. one day, I say. I also experienced a pop-up shop of a gourmet ice cream shop called Oddfellows that specializes in the most creative combinations and flavors- I had tangerine soft serve with freeze-dried raspberries… in a circus setting. Fabulous! My final stop was a hidden warehouse called The Broadway Market Co., full of local artists and designers under one roof. This is the kind of stuff that I love! I picked up a cool, gold glitter bear shirt from Original Work by Meek X Nep. And then I was ready for dinner and a fluffy bed… NYC , I love you… be back soon.💋
