Designer Philip Plein’s latest show was aptly named “Alice in Ghettoland” and had Paris Hilton and Fergie walk the runway show. To me, this was sort of like a low rent Moschino/Jeremy Scott show, especially with the gold chains and denim combination, as well as that swimsuit in the 6th photo. I want to love it, but it was too mall-ish…. like Contempo Casuals. Fun Fact: When I was teenager, I was working at a local diner as a waitress saving my pennies from tips given to me by the elderly that were dropping their social security checks on milkshakes and clam rolls. I would save for weeks and months to shop all the mall rat clothes at Contempo Casuals. It was glorious. One of my first big purchases was a red velvet newsboy hat that I first saw on a Fly girl on ‘In Living Color’. I wore that thing to death. I think I even wore it to a funeral. Anywho, this collection reminds me of that.
