On my most recent trip to NYC, I took a gander at the windows at Bergdorf Goodman, which is a habit of mine since I was a little girl. Those windows are so damn magical! One of my favorite things about NYC is the ability to stroll down Fifth Ave. and just admire the many windows of department stores. Love that! The photo above with the pink, fluffy poodle is actually inside the jewelry haven, Henri Bendel. If you love jewelry, Bendel is THE place. I almost tripped a few times, because my eyes were mesmerized to the point where my brain shutdown! TRUTH!Anywho, I then moseyed down to 30th and 10th Avenue to Rainbow City by Friends With You. My son would’ve loved this, especially since he collects the blind boxes by Friends With You. The souvenir table was a Dude in a Box! Pretty cool.
I continued my journey to the much storied The Brooklyn Flea . I had expected it to be a larger flea market, but it was actually very manageable and not at all overwhelming. I took a some photos of a few gems for you. Including this one- Robo-Barbie! I bet she’s Arnold’s type…. actually, I think anyone is Arnold’s type. But, I digress.
Having an uncloseted, bow obsession, I had to show you these knit bows by DSLookkin. I’d wear it on my head, naturally. Take a closer look at the cameo and chandelier necklaces – they’re made from vinyl records! Ah-maze-ing. They’re by Wrecords by Monkey and he also makes switchlight plates and other cool stuff out of vinyl records. In case you get the munchies, there is a nice selection of local, food trucks right at the market.
As promised, I will tell you about my trip to the Alexander McQueen exhibit at The Met. I wanted to dedicate an entire blog post to it, however, just as I was about to take photos of the decadent ensembles, some broody bodyguard type gave me the ‘b*tch, don’t you even’ look. So I had to put my camera away! Dude was huge, so I didn’t take any chances , you know, messing up my manicure and hair by going all ghetto on him. The exhibit itself was jaw-dropping- as in, if you are in the NYC vicinity- I urge you to take a day off and go to the exhibit. It’s that great- even if you’re not that into fashion. I do suggest you get to The Met a little before it opens at 9:30 am to avoid long lines. There are throngs of people still wanting to go to the exhibit. I went a month into the exhibit and the lines were still staggering. If you have a Met membership, then you’re all set- no waiting in line. And don’t forget to stop by Lady M around the corner for a scrumptious mille-crepe and cup of tea!
