I had the pleasure of going to the Tim Burton exhibit at LACMA again. I saw the exhibit last year in NYC, but wanted to take my son to see it in LA. Above is what I wore…. It’s sort of a bizarro-goth look, I guess? The dress is from the Gap collection a few years ago with designers like Thakoon redesigning the classic white shirt. Notice the bows on the pocket- that really sealed the deal for me. I added a red vinyl bow belt from Patricia Field’s and a custom-made, cotton, peter pan collar that I tied on. My flats are Marc Jacobs, the mouse collection.
I recently took a trip to NYC for ‘bidness’… I did interviews for a funny movie called “Horrible Bosses” with Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman. Below is my roaming- around-NYC- after-a-red -eye outfit. I was going for the “WWII is over look, so now I’m going to make a cake since flour is no longer rationed” look. It’s a vintage (1950s) cotton pique dress with printed hot pink roses. I threw on a Vivienne Westwood sweater to edge off the morning chill and traveled light with a Babushka Russian Doll pouch from Forever 21. That pouch was super tiny, so all my essentials were crammed in… but alas, I was free from lugging around a pocketbook through the subways and streets. It was as if I was traveling with no bra- pretty liberating. I wore a Betsey Johnson pink rhinestone rose hair clip, socks from Tokyo and shoes by Moschino’s Cheap & Chic line. I think socks and heels are making a comeback this season, so watch for it! That day I went to the Alexander McQueen exhibit at The Met– More on that in the next couple days.
Below is what I wore to the interviews of ‘Horrible Bosses’. A Betsey Johnson knit dress (all one piece) that resembled a super hero outfit! It even has a built in belt! I threw on a yellow cardigan from Anthropologie for some POP! A gold grenade necklace embellished with diamonds and the Soviet symbol for a BOOM! And my trusty Marc Jacobs mouse flats for a BAM! My hair is done in the vain of my style muse , Bjork– they are actually two bun extensions on my head. Cool , huh!? And the sequined star hair clip is by PuppycatMeow. I have to mention that Jason Bateman loved my mouse flats- he’s a pretty cool dude, especially that he’s one letter away from BATMAN!
PS- so sorry for the craptastic photos. It was dark as a dungeon in my hotel room! I’m just grateful I didn’t come home with a few extra guests- bedbugs!
