This season’s collection by Jean Paul Gaultier was inspired by a very famous nightclub in Paris by the name of Le Palace, which I am guessing, was much like Studio 54 of NYC. The late seventies and early eighties shined through the collection through the silk pajama sets, punk-era hair, and lots of lamé and gold sequins. The show was on the heels of David Bowie’s death, so naturally, subtle nods to his impeccable style resonated throughout the collection. Although, Gaultier no longer designs ready-to-wear, it’s visual treats like this that make me yearn for more of his work. Twice a year is just not enough. Plus, Mr. Miggins approves.
