These past few months have been rough. First, I lost Mr. Marmar to PKD in October and now Miss Darcheen (half sibling to Mr. Marmar) has also passed away on January 11, 2013. She was a special soul. Ten years ago we learned that she suffered a spinal cord injury and from then on her life changed. She was a vivacious cat before the injury. She would run around in a frenzy mode playing and chasing after anything that moved. We aren’t quite sure how her injury became in the first place, but when I learned of it, I vowed to always take care of her no matter what. I had a custom wheelchair made for her that she never used. She preferred to drag her legs around instead. Despite her difficulties, she would manage to still get around, cuddle with Mr. Marmar, play with her disco-spider and eat loads of food. She loved snackums, chicken, cantaloup, and watermelon. That’s right. This little princess loved fruit! Anyway, we managed to take care of her meticulously. She was so sweet and kind. Very affectionate, she would purr in anticipation of a head rub. She loved children and would watch over my first born by sleeping next to him. I hope I find a ginge cat like her again. They say red persians are very rare. Darcheen was beyond rare- she was one-of-a kind. Miss Darcheen will always be my little princess Ewok. Our home is so empty without her. Rest in Peace, my mooshmuffin.
I loved waking up to your teddy bear face,
All fuzzy and furry, hair all over the place.
I loved your purrs, your vibrating whiskers,
your gentle meows to all your brothers and sisters.
Although you were physically disabled,
You were a wondrous, magical creature, much fabled.
I wish you peace and comfort after your long and brave struggle,
Now go to Mr. Marmar and snuggle-muggle.
Love forever,
Mommy
